Come and meet the Brothers Grimm’s little sister, in a puppet play for all ages!
While the Brothers Grimm are out on a desperate quest for more fairy tales, their little sister Lotte sneaks a peek at a freshly collected but incomplete tale in their notebook. Bored and tired of her household chores, Lotte sets out on an adventure to fix the story and save its heroine from doom. If she can come up with a satisfying ending, she might just not only salvage this particular story but also give her brothers a whole new idea on how to beef up their collection so that it can get published.
Based on historical research and using different types of puppets, this whimsical play gives a fresh perspective on how our classic fairy tales were first recorded, and how women contributed to their preservation. For anyone who loves puppets or fairy tales!
Created and performed by Kris Fleerackers.
Outside Eye and Story Consultant: Atma Frans.
Presented by Fallada Puppetworks in association with Presentation House Theatre.
Suitable for all ages (5+ recommended), approximately one hour long.

A video of our latest puppet creation, Shadow of My Beloved, will be premiered at an online Halloween Puppet Slam this coming Thursday, October 29th, at 7 pm PST.
Based on 17th century composer Michel Lambert’s song “Ombre de mon amant,” this short solo piece is a personal reflection on mortality, loss and remembrance, peppered with some dark, quirky humour.
This puppet slam is an initiative of the Vancouver International Puppetry Festival and supports the efforts of puppeteers locally and internationally. Please note that this edition will be adult-oriented.

Kris is now part of a “paper story collective” led by Brazilian artist Liana Yuri that introduces bilingual school children in Sao Paulo to pop-up and paper puppet theatre. It’s been great fun interacting online with over a hundred happy kids, showing them a prerecorded video of The Wolf and the Monster (Kris’s unorthodox adaptation of Red Riding Hood), demonstrating the puppets live and participating in a simple pop-up making workshop.
